Architectural Conservator (Staff-level)
JBC is seeking a curious, committed, and enthusiastic staff-level architectural conservator to join our New York City -based team. Location
The majority of work for this position will be in the New York City metropolitan area; however, some travel is necessary. Remote work is not available.
Responsibilities:
Perform hands-on conditions assessments, field testing, and conservation treatments;
Perform historical and technical research;
Perform scientific testing and analyses of building and artwork materials;
Prepare client deliverables, including written reports, construction documents, repair design details, and project specifications;
Assume responsibility for key aspects of projects and complete assignments with guidance of senior staff;
Interface with project teams, clients, contractors, and other architectural and engineering disciplines;
Monitor and quality control the work of contractors on active construction sites;
Contribute to company expertise-building objectives and the field at large through involvement in company initiatives, research projects, and relevant industry committees and professional organizations.
Qualifications / Competencies:
Graduate degree in conservation, historic preservation, architecture, or a related field;
Effective written and verbal communication skills;
Team player mindset with a willingness to proactively take on various roles and responsibilities;
·Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing demands, while maintaining productive interpersonal relationships and a high standard of excellence, integrity, and attention to detail;
Experience with Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, and Adobe InDesign software preferred, but not required;
Ability to conduct scholarly research is a plus;
U.S. citizenship or valid work permit.
Physical Requirements:
Sufficient manual dexterity to operate tools and perform delicate tasks (note any experience, including hobbies, that demonstrates your ability to work with your hands);
Visual acuity and good color perception;
Ability to lift and carry materials, tools, and other heavy equipment up to 50 lbs.;
Medically fit to utilize respiratory protection devices and other forms of Personal Protective Equipment;
Driver’s license is a plus but not required.

Pay
$60,000 to $75,000 based on experience.
